5 Jersey City Cops Shot. 2 in critical condition.
The primary suspect was carrying an automatic weapon, said Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy.
The shootout happened during an active criminal investigation of the suspects, Comey said.
"These individuals were being sought by our department for a major crime," he told reporters Thursday. "This individual (and his accomplice) came ready to go to war with us."
He declined to say what "major crime" the suspects were believed to have committed.
One of the officers was in critical condition after having been shot in the face and almost losing his life, and another was seriously injured with gun wounds to the chest and neck, Healy said. The others' injuries weren't life-threatening.
"It was a terrible gunfight," said the mayor.
Three more who weren't shot also were hurt in the gunbattle. The wounded officers were taken to Jersey City Medical Center.
The area of the shooting is known for heavy drug activity, FOX 5 reported.
A car that may have been involved in the shootout was loaded onto a flatbed tow truck about 9 a.m. Thursday.

Ex-champion Gatti found dead in Brazilian hotel

Ex-champion Gatti found dead in Brazilian hotel
Posted using ShareThis
SAO PAULO -- Former boxing champion Arturo Gatti, one of the most exciting fighters of his generation, was found dead in a hotel room in the posh seaside resort of Porto de Galihnas early Saturday.
Police investigator Edilson Alves told The Associated Press that the body of the former junior welterweight champ was discovered in his hotel room at the tourist resort, where Gatti had arrived on Friday with his Brazilian wife Amanda and 1-year-old son.
Alves said police were investigating and it was unclear how the 37-year-old Canadian died. Foul play is suspected in the death, the CBC reported.
"It is still too early to say anything concrete, although it is all very strange," Alves said.
A spokeswoman for the state public safety department said Gatti's wife and son were unhurt. The women declined to give a name in keeping with department policy.
"There were no bullet or stab wounds on his body, but police did find blood stains on the floor," she said.
Brazilian boxer and four-time world champion Acelino "Popo" Freitas told the G1 Web site of Brazil's largest television network Globo that he was a close friend of Gatti and his wife, and that he "knew they were having some sort of problem and were about to separate, but I didn't know they were in Brazil."
Francisco Assis, a local police investigator, told G1 that Gatti could have died up to eight hours before his body was found early Saturday.
Gatti (40-9, 31 KOs), nicknamed "Thunder", was best known for his all-action style, which was epitomized in his classic trilogy with Micky Ward in 2002 and 2003.
It's why Gatti was a fixture at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., where he drew huge crowds and fought many times, including the final nine fights of his career.
"His entire boxing career he fought with us, we've known him since he was 17," Kathy Duva of promoter Main Events told The Associated Press. "It's just an unspeakable tragedy. I can't even find words. It's a horror."
He won two world titles in his 16-year pro career. In 1995, he won his first one, outpointing Tracy Harris Patterson to claim the IBF junior lightweight title.
In his first fight after the Ward trilogy -- which Gatti won 2-1 -- he captured a world title in his second division, outpointing Gianluca Branco for the vacant WBC junior welterweight title in January 2004.
Gatti made two defenses before losing the title to Floyd Mayweather Jr. via sixth-round TKO in June 2005. He returned to defeat Thomas Damgaard but lost his final two bouts, a ninth-round TKO in a challenge to then-welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir in July 2006 followed by a one-sided beating from former "Contender" star Alfonso Gomez in July 2007.
In the dressing room following the seventh-round knockout loss to Gomez, Gatti announced his retirement.
Referee Randy Neumann said it was tough for him to end that fight, simply because of Gatti's incredible ability to come back in fights.
"I couldn't stop that fight, simply because he was Arturo Gatti," Neumann said. "He was much more dignified to go out that way. He had to be counted out. When he fought, you never knew if he could come back. He looked beaten and still came back."
With that loss, Gatti acknowledged the end of all his travails and triumphs.
"I remember walking away from his last fight, and somebody walked up to him in the casino late at night and congratulated him," Duva said. "And he said, 'Why did he congratulate me?' And I said, 'He was excited to meet you.' And he kind of looked very surprised by that.
"He had no idea what an icon he was or how much he meant to people."
More than his titles, Gatti will be remembered for the slugfests. He was half of the Ring magazine fight of the year four times for two the Ward fights as well as his 1997 fifth-round knockout of Gabriel Ruelas to retain the junior lightweight title and a 1998 decision loss to Ivan Robinson.
Gatti had two memorable battles with Robinson as well as dramatic fights with Wilson Rodriguez, Angel Manfredy and Calvin Grove -- all before the trilogy with Ward that defined his career.
Gatti was a staple of HBO's boxing broadcasts, appearing on the network 21 times.
"HBO Sports is tremendously saddened by the passing of Arturo Gatti," HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg said. "He was one of the legendary warriors in boxing, and his three epic battles with Micky Ward will live on in the sport's rich history. All of us at HBO Sports will miss his warm and friendly presence, and our deepest sympathy goes out to his manager Pat Lynch, promoter Main Events, led by Kathy Duva, and the entire Arturo Gatti family. Boxing has lost a great and humble man."
Gatti had been working in real estate in Montreal following his retirement, but still attended fights, as he did in April for the Timothy Bradley-Kendall Holt junior welterweight unification bout at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Amazing Actor: Michael Shannon!
![](http://static.tvguide.com/MediaBin/Galleries/Editorial/090119/OscarNoms2009/BestSupportingActor-MichaelShannon-RevolutionaryRd13.jpg)
I just watched Revolutionary Road again and it amazed me how well Michael performed in this film. He had a great role and truely brought the best out of his character. He's added on to my last of respected actors, here is a quick Bio from Wikipedia on Michael;
Shannon was born in Lexington, Kentucky, a grandson of entomologist Raymond Corbett Shannon.[3] His mother, Geraldine Hine, is a lawyer, and his father, Donald S. Shannon, was an accounting professor at DePaul University.[4] He was raised by his divorced parents in both Kentucky and Chicago, Illinois.[5][6] Shannon began his career as a stage actor in Chicago, where he helped found the "Red Orchid Theatre".[3] He has since worked with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Northlight Theatre, and other acting companies.[7] Shannon originated the role of Peter Evans in Bug in 2004 and also starred in the 2007 film Adaptation with Ashley Judd and Harry Connick, Jr, directed by William Friedkin. His roles in Bug, Killer Joe, and Man From Nebraska were written by Steppenwolf ensemble member Tracy Letts.[6]
Shannon made his film debut with a small role in Groundhog Day in 1993 as a wedding groom.[8] Later, he had roles in Jesus' Son, Pearl Harbor, 8 Mile and Vanilla Sky. He played the villain in Kangaroo Jack. After a role in Bad Boys II, he had a major role in Grand Theft Parsons as the hippie, Larry Oster-burg. In 2006, he played the leader of a prison white supremacist group, Lynard, in Let's Go to Prison. Other roles include a gambler in Lucky You and Peter Evans in Bug.[9]
Shannon has appeared in several shows in the West End in London, including a production of Woyzeck directed by Sarah Kane.[10] In 2008, Shannon was featured in the off-Broadway production of Stephen Adly Guirgis's The Little Flower of East Orange, presented by LAByrinth Theater Company and The Public Theater, directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman and also featuring Ellen Burstyn.[11]
Shannon's role in Revolutionary Road, also starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio, earned him a 2008 Oscar nomination,[12] which he lost to Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight.
He is married to actress Kate Arrington; they have one daughter, Sylvia, who was born in 2008. [13]
AR Scratching
AR scratching from vanderlin on Vimeo.
SHOUTS TO VANDERLIN
I was playing around with some AR markers the other day and came up with this idea. taking just a plain old vinyl record and attaching an AR marker to the label you can track the record in 3D space. The next question was, can you scratch the record?
So by figuring out the velocity of the records rotation and applying it to the payback of the audio you can scratch. There is some digital noise that needs to bee worked out, but sounds pretty good. Its still really hard to scratch, it takes some practice but is super fun. The next step is to figure out some nice triggers for different modes. I like the idea of not needing a turntable but the actual spinning of the record helps with the scratching and playback. I made a couple modes, one where the record is paused and you can just scratch through the song. The other looks for zero velocity for x time and then continues on with the song. If there is velocity you then are scratching and the audio is affected. I think that this project has some legs can't wait to play more.

LeBron gets dunked on by Xavier player, confiscates all video
It was assumed he was called "King James" because he reigns on the basketball court. But maybe LeBron James earned that nickname due to his tyrannical ways (in dealing with embarrassment).
On Monday, Jordan Crawford, a sophomore at Xavier (by way of Indiana), reportedly dunked on LeBron during a pick-up game at the LeBron James Skills Academy. Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com wrote that one high school player said, "it was bad". (We can only assume he meant "bad" in the Michael Jackson sort of way.)
LeBron must have agreed, because he had Nike officials confiscate the two videos that were taken of the dunk. (Parrish blames Nike, but reading between the lines it seems like the censorship was orchestrated by LeBron himself.)
Ryan Miller, a freelance photographer who was working at the camp that day, told CBSSports.com:
"LeBron called [Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt] over and told him something," Miller said. "That's how I knew his name was Lynn. LeBron said, 'Hey, Lynn. Come here.'"
A few minutes later, Miller's tape was confiscated.
Connecting the dots, it seems clear that LeBron didn't want video leaking out of him getting dunked on by a college sophomore, so he told a Nike official to get the tape. It was an understandable reflex move (gotta protect the image), but it also unnecessarily makes a mountain out of a molehill.
The Crawford dunk would have been a temporary embarrassment for LeBron. Let's say the video was put on YouTube. It blows up for a bit, dominates blogs for 36 hours, everyone has a good chuckle and then it's forgotten about.
But by censoring the tape, LeBron turns the dunk into a legend. On video, it's just a dunk. Without video, the jam can reach mythic proportions. Because nobody can see it, the story of the dunk will grow in stature with each telling. Today, it was a simple two-handed slam. In a few days, it will be a 360-degree windmill. By the time Crawford makes his Xavier debut in October, he will have jumped off LeBron's shoulders, flipped in the air, slammed the ball home with his left pinkie and then handed LeBron $3.99 for his dry cleaning.
Without the video, we'll never know. Although, given his past history, I think it's safe to say that LeBron probably walked off the court without shaking Crawford's hand.

Little People - A Tiny Street Art Project .
I came across The "Little People". This 2 year project is pretty interestin'. Each Little Person is hand crafted and left in certain spots of the city of london until they are gone forever!
"I don't often check back on the little people once I have placed them on the street. If i do, i usually find that they have long gone. The cash machine installation however was intact the last time I saw it, a few months after it was placed. I checked again recently, but the little man was gone. The cash machine was still there though, although it looks a bit vandalised now. I decided to put a new little person down and see how long she lasts... "

This is an old interview, that I believe came out in May however after watching it i felt compelled to put it up. I really mess with both Peter and Drake so to have both of them on this video made it fun to watch. Kanye also came in on the interview but it was very awkward. However he is the man so gets a G pass on alot lol. Watch and Enjoy.

This Show is beyond amazing! It is shot in London and is a very important show over there, as it should be. Cablevision briefly (sadly) had something called the VOOM HD Network. It was basically a set of channels in HD that were exclusive to Cablevision. Anyway, they had an ALL Music Channel which was awesome. I discovered many bands because of that channel, like People in Planes, Feist, Cat Power and ALOT more. Sadly Cablevision took it off but not without me taking some gems with me. "Later...with Jools Holland" was one of them. Picture this! 5 of your favorite bands all set up around the Studio and they take turns playing songs. While one plays the studio audience and the rest of the bands watch! I saw one episode that had Cat Power, Radiohead, Mary J. Blige and two bands I didn't know much about but that were awesome! I'll show you a clip of this amazing show! This is Bjork performing "Declare Independence" get prepared to be blown away. This performance is mind blowing! Notice the other bands enjoying it during the video and Paul McCartney clapping at the end! What an awesome show!

Good Riddance!!!! Sarah Palin out of Office!
Honestly through these past elections I used to watch Sarah Palin's interviews as pick me ups whenever I was feeling down. This woman (however good looking she is) was an embarrassment to American Politics. Alaska has lots to be thankful for now that she is leaving office. All I can say is I hope she NEVER campaigns again for the presidency. I saw her on Saturday Night Live and she seems like a good/nice woman but damn that! The fact that someone like her can be a State Governor is SCARY!
THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!
As if I didn't already hate Joe Jackson after watching The Jackson's Movie. Now I watch this horrible interview where the reporter keeps trying to talk about Michael Jackson and all Joe Jackson wants to talk about is some stupid label. Not only that please notice how FAKE he sounds when he talks about how Mike's Death is affecting him. Just watch the video...we labeled this under comedy because its a JOKE! But there's nothing funny about this, this is sad.

News: Michael Jackson's Will Filed In Court
![](http://www.mtv.com/shared/promoimages/bands/j/jackson_michael/file/katherine/281x211.jpg)
Michael Jackson's will was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday (July 1), revealing the late singer's wishes for his estate and the three children he left behind.
In the will, which was drafted in 2002, Jackson called for family attorney John Branca, accountant Barry Siegel and music executive and longtime friend John McClain to serve as co-executors of the Michael Jackson Family Trust, an estate established to manage all of the King of Pop's assets. According to The Associated Press, Jackson estimated his worth at more than $500 million at the time he completed his will. Documents obtained by the AP reveal Jackson's estate consisted of "non-cash, non-liquid assets, including primarily an interest in a catalogue of music royalty rights which is currently being administered by Sony ATV, and the interests of various entities."
The original documents were prepared for Jackson to sign on March 22, 2002, but the pop star — who died unexpectedly last Thursday after suffering from cardiac arrest — didn't complete the paperwork until July 7, 2002.
In the will, Jackson nominated his mother, Katherine Jacksonto serve as guardian of his three children . On Monday, a judge granted Katherine temporary custody of the children, Prince Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., 12; Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11; and Prince Michael Jackson II, 7. In the event Jackson's mother was unable or unwilling to care for the children, the singer then called for Diana Ross, an early mentor to Jackson, to be the guardian of his kids.
Debbie Rowe, Jackson's ex-wife and the mother of his first two children, was specifically omitted from the will. The mother of Jackson's third child remains unknown.
"I have intentionally omitted to provide for my former wife, Deborah Jean Rowe Jackson," the will states.
As co-executors of the Michael Jackson Family Trust, Branca, McClain and Siegel have the right to sell or mortgage any property Jackson owns and to invest state funds as necessary. They will probably have their hands full with the host of lawsuits and debt Jackson left behind.
Branca and McClain issued a joint statement to the press earlier today, reiterating Jackson's desire for his children to be placed under his mother's care.
"The most important element of Michael's will is his unwavering desire that his mother, Katherine, become the legal guardian for his three children," the statement said. "As we work to carry out Michael's instructions to safeguard both the future of his children, as well as the remarkable legacy he left us as an artist we ask that all matters involving his estate be handled with the dignity and the respect that Michael and his family deserve."
According to TMZ, Siegel resigned from his role as executor in 2003.
The will states that if one of the men refuses to serve as co-executor, a replacement does not need to be named. Should all three men decline, together they could nominate a new executor.
There is no mention by Jackson in the will of where or how he wished to be buried.

Restaurant of the Month: " TAO "
![](http://wwff.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/tao.jpg)
Tao is located on 58th street between Park. Ave and Madison Ave. They serve Modern-Asian cuisine which is traditional Asian food, just updated and with a twist. The restaurant itself could be confused for a night club. The bar is always packed and good luck getting in without a reservation because even with one you need to wait a minimum of 15 minutes to be seated.
In the restaurant area, you can sit in the lower area over looking the massive Buddha statue located at the front of the restaurant, or the upper area which is usually for smaller groups of two or three. Besides the decore and club atmosphere being out of this world, the food is actually amazing. Everything has so much flavor, and the sushi is like butter and tastes really fresh! Next time you're in Manhattan, be sure to check out Tao!

Wow what can I say? The effect Michael Jackson had on music and the world in general is seldom seen. I remember when I was a lot younger how when Michael Jackson popped up on my TV I literally dropped everything!!! Do you know how tough it is for a kid to put down his Lego's? Honestly though, he used to come up on MTV or VH1 and I would stand at a full attention almost in a trance on TV. His music is timeless and will be around for all of time. I was never one to judge him on any of the allegations against him. People sometimes don't understand how rough Michael's childhood was and how it affected him. Regardless, his memory will live on forever! Obviously Michael Jackson has made a lot of classics, however in this moment and time I REALLY REALLY enjoy listening to "Butterflies" off of his 2001 album "Invincible". This one's for you MJ!
